Atlanta Braves 9, Miami Marlins 4
Both teams were heading into Game 1 of the NLDS feeling good. The Braves had just swept the Reds while allowing 0 runs in the series while the Marlins had upset the Cubs with a sweep. Starting for the Braves was LHP Max Fried who had a 2.25 ERA in 2020 while going 7-0. Unfortunately he did not pitch very well today. He allowed 4 runs in 4 innings putting the Braves in a bad spot down 4-1. Luckily the Braves bullpen came through only allowing 1 run for the rest of the game. As for the Marlins they had RHP Sandy Alcantara pitching for them. The game started off with a bang when Ronald Acuna Jr. hit a lead off home run in the bottom of the first. In the third the Braves scored two more runs on back to back RBI doubles by Marcell Ozuna and Travis d’Arnaud. Then, when Sandy Alcantara was taken out of the game in the bottom of the seventh the Braves offense was able to feast on the Marlins bullpen. They scored 6 runs in the seventh including a 3 run homer by Travis d’Arnaud and a 2 run homer by Dansby Swanson. With that lead the Braves managed to pull away from Game 1 with a 9-5 win.
