Since Frank’s Stockton did not end the story we wrote an ending for the story. Here is my ending.
The young man swung open the door without hesitation. The crowd was on the edge of their seats. They were interested to see how this was going to play out. The first thing the man heard when he opened the door was the loud roar of a tiger. He did not even move. He knew there was no point in trying to run. The princess watched as the young man was gruesomely devoured by the tiger. If he could not be with her, he should not be with anyone.
We also created a door as a representation of the predicament the princess was in. Here is my drawing that shows what was behind the two doors.
